Tales of Cyprus book – SOLD OUT

Sorry if you missed out. I am currently working on my second book 'The Corsica" all about the ill-fated migrant ship and it's maiden voyage from Limassol, Cyprus to Melbourne, Australia at the end of 1951. I am hoping to launch this book sometime in 2022.continue reading →

Presidential award for Tales of Cyprus

A few weeks ago, I was presented with a special award from the Cypriot Government in recognition of my work with ‘Tales of Cyprus’. The award was presented to me by the Cyprus Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Overseas Cypriots, Mr Photis Photiou and Her Excellency Martha Mavrommati, High Commissioner of Cyprus. I was told that my community work with the Cypriot diaspora, (which includes substantial ethnographic fieldwork), was very important to Cyprus and gaining a lot of positive attention on the island. That recognition is reward enough for me, although I…continue reading →

The Time Capsule Project – global survey

Hello again. Today I bring you some exciting news. In fact I have (what I think) is a pretty amazing idea. In collaboration with NEPOMAK (an organisation connecting young Cypriots worldwide), I would like to invite YOU to take part in a very special global survey which I am calling the Tales of Cyprus Time Capsule project. The aim of this survey is to capture and record the living memories of an ageing generation (before they disappear) about life in Cyprus before 1950. The target group therefore is anyone who grew up in…continue reading →

Coming to Cyprus in October 2016

Great news. I can now confirm that I will be coming to Cyprus in October this year to embark on a major research project. Put simply, I intend to travel all over the island in the hope of meeting and interviewing Cypriots who were born between 1910 and 1935. In addition to conducting these interviews, I will also be looking to scan any old family photos that were taken before 1950 to add to the Tales of Cyprus archive. My main objective is to gather enough resources to be able to bring the…continue reading →
